Who is this for?

People who have looked at their credit report and found something that does not look right: an account they never opened, a balance that is wrong, a payment reported late that was made on time, or a debt listed twice.

It is also for people who have been told no by a lender and want to understand exactly why, before applying again.

The problem

Credit reports contain mistakes more often than most people expect, and the bureaus and creditors do not fix them on their own. An error sits there until someone disputes it, and in the meantime lenders treat it as fact.

Disputing takes paperwork, deadlines and follow-up across up to three bureaus and the companies reporting the information. That is where help is useful.

What does CreditForwardRepair do, and not do?

What CreditForwardRepair does

  • Reviews all three of your credit reports with you and explains each section in plain language.
  • Identifies entries that appear inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or unverifiable.
  • Prepares and sends disputes to the credit bureaus and, where appropriate, to the companies reporting the information.
  • Reviews bureau responses and follows up when a response is incomplete.
  • Explains services, costs and your rights in a written agreement before you commit.

What CreditForwardRepair does not do

  • Remove accurate, timely negative information. That is not possible for anyone.
  • Guarantee a score increase, a timeline, or a lender's decision.
  • Suggest disputing information you know is accurate, or creating a new credit identity.
  • Cancel or settle debts you legitimately owe.
  • Ask for your bank, card or monitoring-service passwords to get started.

What to prepare

None of this is required to enroll, but it makes your report review more useful once you get started.

  • Pull your free reports from AnnualCreditReport.com and circle anything you do not recognize or believe is wrong.
  • Gather any statements or letters that support your side, such as a payment confirmation for a payment reported late.
  • Note which bureau's report shows each issue, since the three reports often differ.
  • Write down what you are working toward, so the review focuses on what a lender will care about.

Questions about credit repair

Direct answers, with sources on the full FAQ.

  • A credit repair company reviews your credit reports with you, helps identify information that may be inaccurate, incomplete or unverifiable, and helps you dispute it with the credit bureaus and the companies that reported it.

It cannot do anything you could not legally do yourself, and it cannot remove accurate, timely negative information. Under the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act, a company must give you a written contract, explain your rights, and cannot charge you before the promised services are performed. CreditForwardRepair reviews reports, helps you dispute qualifying inaccuracies, and talks through your goal. CreditForwardRepair does not lend money and does not make lending decisions.

  • Anything that is inaccurate, incomplete, or cannot be verified by the company reporting it.

Common examples include accounts that are not yours, payments reported late that were paid on time, and incorrect balances or credit limits. Others are the same debt listed more than once, closed accounts shown as open, and personal information that belongs to someone else. Negative items older than the legal reporting period can also be challenged.

  • No. Accurate, verifiable negative information that is still within its reporting period generally stays on your report until that period ends.

According to the CFPB, most negative information can remain for up to seven years, and some bankruptcies for up to ten. Any company that promises to remove accurate information, or tells you to create a new credit identity, is describing something that is not legal. What you can do is make sure the rest of your report is right and build a positive record going forward.

  • Yes. You have the right to dispute errors directly with each credit bureau and with the company that reported the information, at no cost.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau explains how: send the dispute in writing, say clearly what you believe is wrong and why, and include copies of documents that support your position. Many people choose help because the paperwork, follow-up and deadlines take time and attention. Either path is legitimate. CreditForwardRepair can walk through your reports with you whether or not you decide to use the service.

  • It depends on how many items you dispute, how the bureaus and creditors respond, and whether follow-up disputes are needed. Nobody can honestly promise a fixed timeline.

What is fixed by law is the bureau investigation window: a bureau generally has 30 days to investigate a dispute, which can extend to 45 days in some circumstances. Several rounds may be needed when a response is incomplete. CreditForwardRepair explains where things stand at each stage rather than quoting a schedule it cannot control.

  • In writing, before you commit. Under the Credit Repair Organizations Act a credit repair company must give you a written contract that states the services, the total cost, and how long the work is expected to take. You have three days to cancel after signing.

Credit repair plans range from $127 to $297/month depending on household size (Individual, Couples, or up to 5 Family Members), each with a one-time first work fee shown at signup. Credit monitoring is billed separately by the monitoring provider: $1 for a 7-day trial, then automatically $27.99/month. Starting your signup online does not obligate you to pay until you review and accept your agreement.
